The first leg was somewhat of a close and wary affair, but the number of top players on display makes a tie between these Spanish and French giants a must-win.

Real Madrid will have to overcome a 0-1 deficit to progress against PSG and qualify for the quarter-finals, after a last winner from Kylian Mbappé a fortnight ago. They don’t have a good recent history when in this position, having lost nine of their last 10 Champions League knockout ties despite being behind since the first leg. Paris Saint Germain were, however, knocked out of three of the eight Champions League encounters despite being top after the first leg.

Mbappé has been a big injury doubt for the French side heading into the game. The superstar striker was injured in training on Monday after team-mate Idrissa Gueye stood up. However, following an MRI, he was allowed to travel to Spain. Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos remains sidelined through injury but manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he made the emotional trip to Benarbeu with his new team-mates, despite this.

Midfielders Toni Kroos and Fede Valverde are expected to be back for Real Madrid after missing out on the recent La Liga win over Real Sociedad. Gareth Bale should also be fit and available for Carlo Ancelloti.

There is then an embarrassment of riches from both teams, especially Lionel Messi. Now at PSG, the former Barcelona icon will return to Spain and will likely face a rather hostile reception from his former team’s arch-rivals, much like Neymar.

Domestically, Real Madrid are eight points clear of second-placed Sevilla and 15 points clear of top La Liga table-toppers Barcelona. PSG are in an even safer position, 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1. For them and Pochettino, winning the Champions League for the first time means everything.

Can they take a big step towards that by knocking out the 13-time winners? Find out what’s going on by watching the Real Madrid vs PSG live stream, which we’ll show you below.
