Wilmington, Delaware-based artist Apolinara recently released his first full-length studio album titled “Shadows and Signs,” an effort filled with piano melodies, harmonious vocals, and heavy symphonic and gothic metal elements – check out the disc on this location.
Today (and continuing our ongoing column), Apolinara generously created and shared with us a Spotify playlist of tracks from Therion, Moonspell, Lacrimosa, Nightwish, Theater of Tragedy, After Forever and more. Songs are streamable here and lower.
Apolinara tells us:For this playlist, I’ve collected all the musical “gems” that have shaped me as an artist over the past 20 years. So let me take you on the trip down memory lane. We open with Therion, Moonspell and Lacrimosa. I was 14 when I discovered these groups, I was amazed by the mixture of heavy metal and classical music. The next era brought me some strong female vocalists to look up to – Nightwish, Theater of Tragedy, After Forever, Within Temptation… There’s only one “non-metal” band on my list – Evanescence. But I deeply admire their gothic vibes, lyrics and haunting vocal harmonies. Amy Lee is a great role model for all leading girl groups. We end with my own song – “Shadows and Signs” – the title track from Apolinara’s debut album [released February 22, 2022].”
